If you’re struggling to learn English grammar, it may be because you haven’t identified the best approach to learning the material. It’s easy to get intimidated by the various types of verb tenses and parts of speech, and many students assume that they need an advanced degree in linguistics to understand how language works.
Find a study partner
Find a friend to learn grammar [เรียน แก รม ม่า, which is the term in THAI] as a second language and have them teach you their grammar! Not only will they be more patient with you, but they can provide you with insight into how an English speaker thinks about language.
Use a grammar book
No matter your starting level, starting with a reference guide is an excellent idea to learn English. It’s hard to know what you don’t know, after all! A book can provide clear explanations for rules, tips on how and when to use them correctly, and standard exceptions.
Listen to podcasts or audiobooks
It’s a bit of an old-school solution, but podcasts and audiobooks are one of my favorite ways to learn new information. Whether commuting to work or running errands, you can quickly drop a few knowledge bombs into your mind as you go about your day.
Watch TV shows with subtitles
The best way to learn English grammar is by reading it. Subtitles in TV shows, movies, and online videos help you see and process grammar structures in action. As a bonus, subtitles prevent your mind from wandering off because you have something to focus on—it’s a mindless but valuable way of learning how language works!
Read articles, comics, and stories
Reading for at least 20 minutes a day is a super-effective way to learn anything, and reading in your target language is a perfect way to improve your grammar. Read articles, comics, and stories, and try out what you’ve read as soon as possible.
